Headend (SMATV)

SMATV Headend, in general terms, can be called as the systems that collect satellite broadcasts in a center in the living units and deliver them to the subscribers with cables and ensure that each subscriber has a perfect television viewing experience without having a separate TV broadcasting system With headend systems, each subscriber does not need to install his own dish antenna or deal with wiring. In addition, thanks to these systems, it is very easy to watch TV at the same time in all subscribers by dividing the cable from a single line to the subscribers without the need for an additional device and the number of subscribers is unlimited.

Like every technological concept system, Headend systems have different types according to the content and usage style they offer. Two of the most common of these are Analog Headend and Digital Headend systems. With its basic features and prominent functions, we aim to introduce you more closely and to provide information about the most accurate system selection.

Analog and Digital Headend System Details

"Analog System" is a broadcasting system where all mass TV access is applied, where all televisions, old and new, can access from all points without additional device converters, etc. Due to the structure of the system, only one TV broadcast can be given from a PAL carrier channel, its capacity is limited to 50..60ad and high-resolution broadcast transmission is not possible with Analog technology. Causes have now begun to be rapidly replaced by digital systems.

"Digital System" is seen as an important technological innovation with many benefits such as high number of channel capacity, superior image and sound quality EPG. The system structure is capable of transmitting many Radio broadcasts from one carrier channel to 8 SD or 4 HD TV end user points without sacrificing image / sound quality.

Why Use Digital Headends?

  • High Channel Capacity
  • Full HD Quality TV Broadcast High Definition
  • Transfer of information including EPG (Electronic Program Guide) publication content information
  • Possibility to sort TV Channels from LCN Center
  • System control with remote management

Today, many new generation TVs have built-in DVB-C (QAM) and DVB-T (QFDM) features, eliminating the need to use additional receivers. In addition, the fact that many local TV channels are broadcast in 1080p Full HD, that many TV Platform broadcasts from the Center (Digitürk, Dsmart, Tivibu, Filbox) can be included in the systems has been the indispensable elements of using Digital Headend Systems.

Application

Analog to Digital Headend Transformation

Since the operating frequency band range of the new Digital and old Analog system is the same, the conversion of all wiring and infrastructure equipment from Analog to Digital system also provides very serious advantages for both the applicator and the avoidance of additional costs without the need for any revision. In addition, in environments where old televisions are located, it can be applied as a Digital Headend (hybrid) with the "Analog" system.

For this reason, in particular; Many features such as compatibility with today's and future HD channels, creating independent packages in line with the channel distribution of different satellites and performing capacity and cost optimization (REMUX), central channel sorting (LCN), decoding the encrypted channels of satellite broadcasting platforms should be taken into consideration.

These features are; Apart from being able to respond to capacity, efficiency, content, usage area and future needs, it is of great importance in terms of optimizing the final cost of the system and being able to use it smoothly for years.

Varnost is a company that pays attention to developing systems that combine the features needed to bring new technologies to our sector. With our new generation COMPACT LINE serial Digital Headend systems, new state-of-the-art products have been developed into an integrated structure that offers all the requirements of the Headend infrastructure together with DVB-C / T and IPTV technology.

Important Features that Digital Headend Systems Should Have:

Remote Access

NMS (Network Menagment Syrtem) can define the number of Ethernet features as the remote management of the system.

MultiPlexer / REMUX

It is an important feature that allows the creation of rich broadcast bouquets and packages by combining channels on different satellite frequencies. This allows a carrier QAM modulator to allocate many channels to the output frequency. In systems without remux feature, if the channel from the satellite is one, it can only allocate one channel to the output, which causes the formation of too many freakans bands with low unnecessary capacity.

Lcn

It is the function that allows you to sort many TV channels centrally according to your wishes. In this way, all TV Thematic contents can be sorted one after the other and can be watched in the order set from the center on all televisions. The fact that a large number of publications can be given to the system also necessitates the creation and management of content. In a system where there will be hundreds of publications, the ability to select, sort and group these broadcasts within the channel are important features that affect the efficiency of the system. The LCN Feature is an important feature that offers a definitive solution to this situation.

CI (Common Interface)

With the device with 4 different module input features, it allows digital broadcasting platforms such as Digitürk, D-Smart, Tivibu and Filbox to decode their encrypted broadcasts from the center and offers a wide range of content to the viewers.

According to customer demand received from various satellites with Varnost Digital / Analog headend systems, broadcasts containing TV and Radio are collected in a single center, converted into analog or digital signal modulation that can be received from normal TV receivers and converted into a structure that can be distributed to many points.

With the development of technology, satellite or different HD content is decoded into the paltform channels that broadcast optionally encrypted and delivered to the end users in original source quality with DVB-T / DVB-C modulation in HD with Digital Transmodulator, Encoder systems without sacrificing broadcast quality.

There is no need for any interface (Receiver, Deceder etc.) to deliver the broadcasts to the TV. A cable connection directly from the outlet to the TV is sufficient. If the Receiver does not have DVB-T or DVB-C capability, the set-top box is used.

Due to this feature, these systems are preferred in public and business centers, especially in large mass housing areas, hotels and hospitals.

VARNOST serves all these systems in the entire process from project design to implementation.

IPTV Solutions

The comfort provided by information technologies in daily life has become one of the basic needs for today's people. This phenomenon, which increases its scope spatially day by day, plays an important role in hotel rooms where comfort is most demanded. Since traditional television distribution and monitoring solutions, which are widely used in hotels and hospitals, are far from offering this comfort, traditional television distribution systems in accommodation facilities are rapidly being replaced by its heir IPTV.

In the IPTV system developed by Tekniksat; As with traditional headend systems, broadcasts are received by satellite dishes.. however, instead of being distributed to the rooms by cables, each channel is broadcast to the hotel's existing LAN network by components called streamers.

Customers can access the content broadcast on the network from their televisions thanks to the receivers (set-top box, STB or H browser TV) in their rooms. At customer demand, VOD (Video on demand) bespoke film, interactive TV and PMS integration can be added to the system has the opportunity to offer services.

With this system; Watches an unlimited number of HD and SD quality TV broadcasts, videos, Hotel promotions and information.. you will reach the internet and thanks to SetTopBox you will have access to all kinds of media and internet facilities.
